I finished
The Gods Look Down
today and am starting
Conrad's Fate
, the latest book from
Diana Wynne Jones's Chrestomanci series.
The Gods Look Down was alright as a fun read. I liked the intertextuality of its references to the Bible. There is a wry comment in the Acknowledgements page about the King James Version of the Bible being the "greatest work of science fiction ever written." WHile Hoyle and I obviously have some different ideas about the extent of the uses of the Bible, I can see where he is coming from as far as the Bible's impact on the genre of sci-fi goes.
Speaking of the Bible, I did some more reading from Provers 8-9 and 1 Timothy 3 today.
